Debora Cartagena 2015

Artist Statement...

Macro is defined as the study of viewing objects up close, whereas
abstract is defined as difficult to understand or abstruse. As a scientist who is also passionate about photography, my work is an exploration of these two art forms. My work leads me to explore unique angles, space, locations, shapes, reflections, and light. I'm
particularly interested in the beauty this world has to offer that is not easily seen by the human eye. I'm fascinated that I can capture such
beauty though the lens. The colors in my work are provided by my surroundings, for I seldom manipulate my imagery via computer software. In addition to capturing vibrant colors, black and white imagery is also an art form I enjoy conveying through my photography.
